Digital Signage for Bank Branches — Rates, Services, and Queue Management

Digital screens in a bank branch showing current savings rates and financial services

Digital Signage in Bank Branches

Bank branch footfall has declined significantly over the past decade as digital banking has matured. Those who do visit a branch typically have a complex need that the app cannot serve: a mortgage query, a business account opening, a financial review, or resolving a complaint.

This means the dwell time in a modern bank branch is higher than ever — and the customer who walks through the door is a qualified lead for financial products and advice.

Reception and Queue Management

Queue management is the most visible use of digital signage in bank branches:

  • Ticket-based queue system with number display (“Now serving: A47 at Counter 3”)
  • Current wait time estimates by service type
  • “Take a seat — we’ll call your number” instruction
  • Service type routing (“For simple transactions, please use our self-service kiosks”)

Integration: The Alliance integrates with queue management systems (Qmatic, Tensator, Wavetec) to pull live queue data to screens.

Interest Rates and Product Information

Bank customers have an unusually high interest in rate information — and rates change frequently. A digital screen solves the printed card problem permanently:

What to display:

  • Current savings account rates (Instant Access, ISA, Fixed Term)
  • Current mortgage rates (2-year fixed, 5-year fixed, variable)
  • Current personal loan rates (representative APR)
  • Business banking rates

Compliance: All rate-based promotions in financial services must comply with FCA CONC and mortgage advertising rules. Representative APR must be “clearly and prominently” displayed. The Alliance’s rate-display templates are pre-built to include all required disclosure language.

Live rate feeds: The Alliance integrates with core banking data feeds to display current rates automatically. When rates change in the core banking system, screens update within minutes — no manual uploads required.

Product and Services Promotion

The branch visit is an opportunity to introduce products the customer may not be aware of:

  • Mortgage: “Thinking of moving? Speak to our mortgage adviser today”
  • ISA: “Save up to £20,000 this tax year — ask about our Cash ISA”
  • Business banking: “Need a business account? We can open one today”
  • Insurance: “Home insurance from £X — ask at the counter”
  • Travel: “Going abroad? Order your travel money with no commission online”

Timing: Schedule product promotion content around relevant times. Travel money promotions in April–July. ISA content in February–April (pre-tax year end). Mortgage content when base rate changes make remortgaging attractive.

Financial Education Content

Financial education content serves customers and builds trust:

  • How to protect yourself from fraud and scams
  • Understanding credit scores
  • What is a Lasting Power of Attorney (LPA) and why it matters
  • Budgeting tips and tools
  • Preparing for a mortgage application

This content positions the bank as a financial partner rather than just a service provider.

Fraud Awareness

Fraud is the most common financial crime and banks have a duty to educate customers. Screens are an effective channel:

  • Current fraud tactics (the specific scams circulating right now — impersonation fraud, authorised push payment fraud)
  • “No legitimate organisation will ask you to move your money for security reasons”
  • How to verify that you’re actually speaking to the bank
  • Reporting fraud: who to call

The Alliance’s scheduling system allows banks to push urgent fraud alerts nationally to all branch screens simultaneously.

Accessibility and Inclusion Content

Branch screens can support accessibility:

  • BSL (British Sign Language) interpretation videos for key banking messages
  • Large-text format options
  • Information on accessibility services available in branch (hearing loops, accessible counters, screen reader support online)

Compliance and Regulatory Displays

Financial services regulation requires specific information to be prominently displayed:

  • FCA authorisation statement
  • FSCS deposit protection information (“Your eligible deposits are protected up to £85,000 by the FSCS”)
  • Complaints procedure
  • Data protection and privacy notice
  • Financial Ombudsman Service information

These displays are legally required and must be accurate and current. The Alliance’s compliance content templates keep these notices up to date.

Internal Staff Screens

Staff-facing screens in back-office areas:

  • Today’s sales targets and actuals (by product, by adviser)
  • Compliance training completion rates
  • Upcoming regulatory changes and product updates
  • HR and company announcements
  • Upcoming branch events and community activities

Multi-Branch Network Management

For retail banking groups, the Alliance’s enterprise features enable:

  • Central marketing team pushing campaigns to all branches simultaneously
  • Compliance team managing regulatory content network-wide
  • Regional managers customising content for their region
  • Individual branch managers adding local community content
  • Proof-of-play reporting for FCA compliance demonstration
