Digital screens in a car dealership showroom showing vehicle features and finance offers

Digital Signage in the Automotive Showroom

A car dealership is one of the highest-value retail environments in existence. A single sale generates thousands of pounds in gross profit. A finance add-on, a service plan, a paint protection package — each additional product carries significant margin.

Digital screens in the showroom, service centre, and customer waiting area improve every stage of the customer journey.

Showroom Vehicle Showcase

The showroom floor benefits from screens that show what’s available beyond the vehicles physically present:

Vehicle feature displays:

  • Mounted near or on individual vehicles, showing specification and feature highlights
  • Video content of the model in motion (the showroom version may be static — the screen shows the drive)
  • Colour and specification selector (what does the same model look like in metallic blue? In this trim level?)
  • “Available on this model” features the sales executive might miss

Rotating stock display:

  • Large screens showing the full current stock with photos, specs, and prices
  • “Just arrived” and “Special offer” highlighted models
  • In-transit vehicles (arriving next week — reserve now)

Finance and Offers Display

Finance is a high-margin product for dealerships. Screens prominently displaying finance offers drive enquiry:

  • Current headline offers (0% APR for 36 months on X model)
  • Monthly payment calculator displays (“From £299/month”)
  • PCP, HP, and PCH comparison explainers (without overwhelming detail)
  • Deposit contribution promotions
  • Part exchange offers (“What’s your car worth?”)

Compliance note: Finance promotions are FCA regulated. Ensure all finance APR figures, representative examples, and credit information comply with the Consumer Credit Act and CONC requirements. All representative APR figures must be “clearly and prominently” displayed.

Service and Aftersales Area

The service centre waiting area is a captive audience. Customers waiting for their car to be serviced have 60–90 minutes of dwell time. Use it:

Service status boards:

  • Vehicle registration, service type, estimated completion time
  • Technician assigned
  • Status updates (Vehicle received / In progress / Quality check / Ready)

Upsell content:

  • “While your car is in, we can also check… “ (tyre depths, brake pad condition, air conditioning recharge)
  • Current service and accessory promotions
  • Service plan explanation and benefits
  • Next service reminder

Entertainment content:

  • News feed for general interest
  • Automotive brand content
  • Brand video content (heritage, motorsport, innovation)

Parts and Accessories Counter

Parts and accessories counters benefit from product display screens:

  • Current accessory promotions (floor mats, roof racks, roof boxes)
  • Seasonal accessories (winter tyres, roof box for the summer)
  • Genuine vs. aftermarket parts comparison
  • Parts availability indicator

Used Vehicle Forecourt

Forecourt or used vehicle areas benefit from outdoor or semi-outdoor display:

  • Current forecourt stock with pricing
  • Mileage, age, service history highlights
  • “Best buy” selections by budget range
  • Part exchange estimates

Reception and Guest Experience

The reception area communicates the brand:

  • Brand video content and heritage
  • Recent awards and recognition (What Car? Award, Auto Express test score)
  • Manufacturer campaign content
  • Electric vehicle transition content
  • Charity and community involvement

Internal Screens for Sales Teams

Sales team areas can display performance screens:

  • Monthly targets vs. actual (units, profit, finance penetration)
  • Current available stock and allocations
  • Incoming model updates and product training reminders
  • Manufacturer incentive programme progress
  • VIP customer visit schedule

EV and Charging Information

For dealerships selling electric vehicles, screens that educate on the transition are valuable:

  • EV range and charging time explainers
  • Charging network information (home charger installation, public network)
  • Total cost of ownership comparison (EV vs. equivalent petrol)
  • Current government grants and incentives
  • Charging station location near the dealership
