Digital information display in a luxury hotel lobby

The Guest Experience Opportunity

A hotel stay is an experience product. Every touchpoint — from the lobby screen to the in-room information guide — contributes to the guest’s perception of the property. Digital signage creates consistent, beautiful, up-to-date information across every touchpoint without the labour cost of concierge staff answering repeated questions.

Lobby and Reception

The lobby screen is the guest’s first digital interaction with the property.

Welcome board — Personalised welcome messages for guests checking in, group names for event attendees, and VIP arrival acknowledgements.

Today at the property — Restaurant opening times, spa availability, pool hours, activity schedule, weather forecast, and local events.

Events board — Meeting room assignments, conference names, and event schedules for business travellers and event attendees.

Wayfinding — Floor plans showing the route to rooms, restaurants, the spa, the gym, conference facilities, and emergency exits.

Restaurant and Bar Menus

Hotel restaurants benefit from the same digital menu board capabilities as standalone restaurants — but with an additional consideration: guests may visit the restaurant multiple times during their stay, so menus should rotate and feature seasonal specials that justify a return visit.

The bar benefits from cocktail menu boards, wine list displays, and happy hour promotion (animated content that changes automatically at 17:00).

Conference and Event Facilities

Large hotels with event spaces use digital signage extensively for event management:

Meeting room signs — Tablet or small screen displays outside each meeting room showing the room name, current booking, and next session. Reduce the chaos of large multi-day events where delegates can’t find their room.

Agenda displays — The day’s conference agenda displayed in corridors and common areas. Updates pushed from the event management system automatically.

Sponsor recognition — Sponsor logos and messages displayed on screens throughout the event space.

Voting and Q&A — Live poll results and Q&A questions displayed on screens during sessions (requires integration with the event platform).

Spa and Wellness Promotion

Spa revenue is high-margin and significantly influenced by awareness and impulse purchase. Digital screens near the spa entrance and in the lobby promote:

  • Current treatment menu with pricing
  • Package deals (spa day, couples packages)
  • Availability for same-day bookings (integration with the booking system)
  • Product spotlights from the retail range

Guests who see spa content in the lobby are 35% more likely to make a spa booking during their stay.

In-Room Displays

For properties with in-room TVs managed by the hotel (not standard TV pass-through), the Alliance provides a dedicated in-room channel showing:

  • Property information (room service menu, wifi password, check-out time)
  • Today’s weather
  • Local recommendations
  • TV channel guide
  • Wake-up call and do-not-disturb status

Pool and Outdoor Areas

Outdoor-rated digital displays at pool areas show:

  • Pool rules and safety information
  • Food and beverage menu
  • Towel service information
  • Activity schedule (water aerobics, poolside DJ, kids’ club)
  • Weather-triggered promotions (“When it’s over 30°C, see the daily pool cocktail special”)

Integration with PMS

The Alliance integrates with major Property Management Systems (PMS) including Opera, Mews, Protel, and Cloudbeds to:

  • Automatically display guest welcome messages based on check-in data
  • Show real-time room availability for walk-in guests
  • Display event schedules from the events module
  • Trigger personalised content based on guest stay stage (arriving, in-stay, departing)
