Digital safety briefing display in a warehouse facility

Digital Signage on the Warehouse Floor

Warehouses are noisy, fast-paced environments where staff rarely sit at desks. Traditional communication methods — email, printed notices, morning briefings — fail to reach a workforce that is constantly moving across a large floor area.

Digital signage on the warehouse floor communicates in real time, without requiring workers to stop what they’re doing or find a noticeboard.

Safety and Compliance Displays

Health and safety is the number one priority in any warehouse. Screens positioned at entrance points, loading docks, and throughout the floor support a safety-first culture:

Safety content:

  • Daily safety briefing (changes with each shift)
  • Current hazard alerts (a spill in aisle 7, forklift operations in zone B)
  • Personal protective equipment (PPE) reminders
  • Safe lifting and manual handling techniques
  • Accident-free day counter (“17 days without a lost-time incident”)
  • Upcoming safety training dates

Compliance displays:

  • Fire evacuation procedure and muster points
  • Emergency contact numbers
  • Site rules and visitor protocols
  • COSHH information for chemicals used on site

The Alliance’s scheduling lets you create a safety briefing template that updates daily, ensuring fresh content rather than the same message becoming invisible through familiarity.

Operational KPI Dashboards

Logistics operations live and die by throughput metrics. A KPI dashboard visible to all warehouse staff creates shared accountability:

Pick and pack metrics:

  • Units picked per hour (actual vs. target)
  • Order accuracy rate (percentage correct on first pick)
  • Current throughput vs. daily target
  • Orders dispatched today vs. orders remaining
  • On-time dispatch rate

Shift performance:

  • Current shift performance vs. target
  • Best performing team or zone
  • Comparison with the previous shift

Integration: The Alliance connects to WMS (Warehouse Management Systems) including SAP EWM, Manhattan Associates, Infor, and custom-built systems via API. KPI data updates in real time on screens throughout the facility.

Real-Time Alerts

Warehouse operations require instant communication:

  • Vehicle alerts: “Forklift moving in zone C — pedestrians use North corridor”
  • Dock assignments: “Despatch — truck 47 at Dock 3, trailer 2Z14”
  • Urgent shipment priority: “Priority — Order #48291 must ship before 15:00”
  • System alerts: “WMS is currently slow — log issues to Helpdesk”

The Alliance supports emergency override messages that push to all screens instantly, interrupting normal content.

Shift Handover and Communications

The shift briefing challenge in a warehouse is real: 150 pickers arriving at 6am, 10 minutes before the shift starts, need to know today’s priorities.

A screen at the locker room entrance showing:

  • Today’s targets and priorities
  • Any process changes or new products
  • Team assignments
  • Breaks and meal times
  • Any announcements from management

This format gets the message across without requiring a full verbal briefing.

Training and Onboarding Screens

New starters in a warehouse environment have a lot to learn quickly. Screens in training areas and break rooms support continuous learning:

  • Short “tip of the day” operational guidance
  • Product category education (new product lines, handling requirements)
  • System update training (new scanning processes, pick confirmation changes)
  • Refresher content on safety procedures

Break Room Screens

The break room is where warehouse staff spend time off the floor. A screen here can carry content that wouldn’t fit on operational screens:

  • Company news and announcements
  • Recognition content (team and individual achievements)
  • Sports news and results (popular in many warehouse environments)
  • HR information (pay dates, holiday booking, benefits)
  • Local community notices and charity initiatives

Recycling and Environmental Targets

Warehouses have significant environmental impact. Screens that display environmental performance create shared ownership:

  • Monthly recycling rate (cardboard, plastic, general waste)
  • Energy consumption vs. target
  • Carbon reduction milestones
  • Environmental policy commitments and progress

Multi-Site Network Management

For logistics operators with multiple facilities, the Alliance’s enterprise features support:

  • Central template management with local customisation zones
  • Site-specific KPI dashboards from individual facility data sources
  • Network-wide safety campaigns pushed simultaneously to all sites
  • Regional performance comparisons (“Region 3 is currently leading the network on pick accuracy”)
  • Central marketing and HR communications deployed to all sites from head office
