Samsung SSSP Digital Signage — Setup and Configuration Guide

What Is Samsung SSSP?
Samsung Smart Signage Platform (SSSP) is Samsung’s built-in SoC (system-on-chip) platform that runs directly inside many Samsung commercial display panels. With SSSP, the display has a built-in media player — you don’t need a separate Alliance Player, Raspberry Pi, or Fire TV Stick.
This reduces installation complexity, eliminates the external device, and simplifies cable management. For deployments where simplicity and reliability are priorities, SSSP is an excellent choice.
Compatible Samsung Displays
SSSP is available on Samsung’s commercial display ranges, primarily:
- QH series — High brightness, indoor/semi-outdoor
- QM series — Standard commercial indoor
- QBH series — Essential commercial displays
- LH series — Large-format commercial displays
Look for “SSSP 6” or higher in the display’s specifications for Alliance compatibility. SSSP 4 and earlier are not supported.
Important: Consumer Samsung TVs (Q-series, Neo QLED, FRAME TV) do NOT include SSSP and cannot run the Alliance app natively.
Installing the Alliance App on Samsung SSSP
Method 1: URL Launcher (Easiest)
- Access the Samsung display’s OSD menu
- Navigate to “System” > “URL Launcher Settings”
- Enter the Alliance SSSP URL:
https://sssp.r52signage.com - Enable URL Launcher
- The Alliance app loads and displays a pairing code
- Log into the Alliance dashboard, add a new screen, and enter the code
Method 2: Enterprise Content Manager
For large Samsung deployments managed through Samsung’s MagicInfo:
- Download the Alliance SSSP app package from your Alliance dashboard
- Upload to MagicInfo Server
- Deploy to screens via MagicInfo
Configuration for 24/7 Operation
Samsung commercial displays need specific configuration for signage use:
Disable power saving:
- OSD > System > Eco Solution > Energy Saving Mode: Off
- OSD > System > Eco Solution > Screen Lamp Schedule: Off
- OSD > General > Samsung Network Remote: On
Set input:
- OSD > Source > SSSP (or the URL Launcher source, depending on SSSP version)
Disable notifications:
- Disable all Samsung notification systems that might overlay the content
Set auto-restart:
- Schedule the display to restart daily at 03:00 via the OSD schedule feature
Network Configuration
Samsung SSSP screens can connect via:
- Ethernet (recommended) — Connect an ethernet cable to the RJ-45 port on the display
- Wi-Fi — Available on most SSSP models, via the display’s OSD Wi-Fi settings
Required outbound access: port 443 (HTTPS) to Alliance servers.
Advantages of SSSP for Signage
Single device — The display IS the player. No external hardware to manage, no cables between player and screen, no second device to power.
Reliability — The SSSP hardware is designed specifically for the display. No thermal issues from an external player in a tight cabinet.
Commercial warranty — Samsung commercial displays come with 3-year on-site warranty. External players are on shorter consumer warranties.
Remote control — Samsung commercial displays support RS-232 and LAN control for power management, allowing the Alliance to turn the screen on and off on a schedule.
Limitations of SSSP
Lower performance — The SSSP chip is not as powerful as a dedicated Alliance Player CM4. Complex animations, 4K video, and data-heavy widgets may not perform as well.
Samsung lock-in — You’re tied to Samsung displays. If a display fails, it must be replaced with another Samsung SSSP model.
App certification — The Alliance app for SSSP requires certification through Samsung’s approval process, which may mean the app lags slightly behind the standard Alliance feature set.
Which to Choose: SSSP or Alliance Player?
Choose SSSP if:
- Simple content (images, text, standard video)
- Clean installation (no external hardware)
- Samsung is your preferred display brand
- Budget for fewer SKUs (screen only, no player to procure)
Choose Alliance Player if:
- Complex content (data-heavy widgets, 4K video, multi-zone layouts)
- Mixed hardware environments (you need to support multiple display brands)
- Faster access to new features (the standard player is always current)
- Existing investment in Alliance Player hardware
